No, You're An Ignoranus!

Posted 2007-05-30 09:48:59

The Washington Post's Mensa Invitational once again asked readers to
take any word from the dictionary, alter it by changing one letter,
and supply a new definition. Here are this year's winners.

Read them carefully. Each is an artificial word with only one letter
altered to form a real word. Some are terrifically innovative:

1. Intaxication: Euphoria at getting a tax refund, which lasts until
you realize it was your money to start with.

2. Reintarnation: Coming back to life as a hillbilly.

3. Bozone (n.): The substance surrounding stupid people, that stops
bright ideas from penetrating. The Bozone layer, unfortunately, shows
little sign of breaking down in the near future.

4. Cashtration (n.): The act of buying a house, which renders the
subject financially impotent for an indefinite period of time.

5. Giraffiti: Vandalism spray-painted very, very high.

6. Sarchasm: The gulf between the author of sarcastic wit and the
person who doesn't get it.

7. Inoculatte: To take coffee intravenously when you are running late.

8. Hipatitis: Terminal coolness.

9. Osteopornosis: A degenerate disease. (This one got extra credit.)

10. Karmageddon: It's like, when everybody is sending off all these
really bad vibes, right? And then, like, the Earth explodes and it's
like, a serious bummer.

11. Decafalon (n.): The grueling event of getting through the day
consuming only things that are good for you.

12. Glibido: All talk and no action.

13. Dopeler Effect: The tendency of stupid ideas to seem smarter when
they come at you rapidly.

14. Arachnoleptic Fit (n.): The frantic dance performed just after
you've accidentally walked through a spider web.

15. Beelzebug (n.): Satan in the form of a mosquito, that gets into
your bedroom at three in the morning and cannot be cast out.

16. Caterpallor (n.): The color you turn after finding half a worm in
the fruit you're eating.

And, the pick of the lot...
17. Ignoranus: A person who's both stupid and an asshole.

Thieves

Posted 2007-05-29 14:28:01

I had my car broken into last weekend.

After a day or two, I realized what likely happened. I must have left my gig bag in the car, as I noticed it was missing later on. It usually has a binder of charts and an extension chord in it, and must have got mistaken for a laptop.

It was a minor expense and a big pain in the ass, but the lesson was learned. Never leave stuff in the car.

Damn thieves... now I have to reprint about 400 charts.

Calm Before The Storm

Posted 2007-05-21 09:58:39

I'm having a rare 2 weekends off from music. This weekend, I had my friend Brad's bachelor party on Friday, and then helped my friend Rawl move this weekend. Now I'm relaxing. Next weekend, I have a sub sitting in for me at Grossman's while I attend Brad's wedding.

June is going to be very busy for gigs. If you're in the area of one of my gigs, please drop by, would be nice to see some familiar faces, plus I won't get to be out much on the weekends to see people.

Happy (belated) Mom's Day

Posted 2007-05-14 09:33:49

Happy Mom's Day to everyone out there who deserves it. While there are those of us who argue that its a corporate-manufactured holiday, at least some of us have one day a year to force us to appreciate the moms in our lives.

Facebook?

Posted 2007-05-10 01:06:46

I registered on Facebook a few weeks back out of sheer curiousity. I was slightly curious what the fuss was about, and I was also curious for a goofy reason I won't go into here.

Anyhow, I signed up, didn't do much, and now have had a bunch of people add me as friends. While it is funny how some of them are finding me, I'm still not sold on what's so great about Facebook.

I may put some time into it over the next day or two, even to just get a profile photo finally up.

See ya on Facebook... maybe.

Feeling Good

Posted 2007-05-01 19:02:22

Know that feeling when you have a bunch of things to do, looming over you like rain clouds that are about to open up? I've had that feeling for the last several weeks, with a number of things I've needed to catch up on. Finally feel like I'm caught up.

That's all for now!
